22 July 2009 :: Colby to Denver (260 miles)

Stayed in some two bit motel in Colby. The place seems notable only because it exists on bend along the otherwise dead straight Interstate 70.
Things changed dramatically the very moment I crossed the state line from Kansas to Colorado, the roads are noticeably better and the speed limit is 75mph.
I stopped at the Colorado state information rest station and collected a bunch of information about the place - really worth the stop to find out about stuff actually .... and I scored a bonus "Visit Colorado" trucker cap.
I got bored with the Interstate 70 and decided to try and take a short cut (ummm, yeah, a short-cut along a straight road... I was bored) anyway I thought I had ~70 miles of fuel (plenty) but about 15 miles after turning off the Interstate 70 I hit my reserve - anyway, I made it back to a town along the Interstate 70 and got pulled over by police because I did not fit in. I explained I was running on vapours and he offered to follow me into the next fuel stop 9 miles down the road (i.e. he wanted me gone!) - 100 ft from the pump my bike stopped and I pushed her in !!
I stayed in Denver in some kind of swanky hotel (Hotel Teatro) where they sneak into your room like Ninjas and turn your bed down - seriously I must have lost concentration for a moment while I farted and the room was all re-configured.
Denver is OK I guess though it's not like I stayed long.
