- Started out at 6am and it was cold, 10C and on a bike that can get cold with the wind chill after a few hours!
- Stopped in Sudbury (a big Nickel mining town) got some breakfast and to better combat the cold I installed the inner liner on my pants. Of course this involves me first taking off my pants in the middle of the street which as I'm standing there half dressed I realise I'm standing in front of the local Nightclub.
- There are just loads and loads of camping sites along the top of Lake Huron in Canada.
- I crossed the border at Sault Ste Marie which took a while given they don't see to many Aussies riding motorcycles across the country and changing a visa class between departure and re-entry -- all was good.
- The wind was really very very strong all the way from Sault Ste Marie to Escanba. It was so strong I simply could not keep the bike in one lane which led to some excited heart moments, I'll try and post some photos below showing how bad it was.
- The "big" news is that after filling my bike with fuel I could hear the engine sounding a bit off. I took a quick look to make sure there was nothing obvious and immediately noticed what I should have realised yesterday I was very low on oil which really is quite concerning as I should not be using this much oil. I can't see any external leak and I'm clearly burning the oil off as I can see some exhaust staining on the right hand indicator lens cover. Seems I'm going to find out what's causing this all before too long right when I don't want it to happen...
- My specially crafted laptop charger interface to the moto does not work as expected -- yes I have a laptop with me!
- The weather girl says tonight is going to be the coldest July night on record. Fortunately tonight is the first night that I decide to actually camp outside in my $30 special Kmart tent.
- No internet or phone reception again! Kinda liberating in a way.
